Nutella Stuffed Brown Butter and Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

I posted these cookies that Jake's sister made this weekend and dropped on our porch. They were SO good, and a lot of people asked for the recipe. Well, she shared it! Thanks, Hannah! Enjoy!

Nutella Stuffed Brown Butter and Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

◦2 1/4 cup all purpose flour

◦1 1/4 tsp baking soda

◦1/4 tsp salt

◦2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter

◦1 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar

◦1/4 cup granulated sugar

◦1 large egg + 1 egg yolk

◦1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

◦1 tbsp plain greek yogurt

◦3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

◦1/2 cup milk chocolate chips

◦1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

◦1 jar of Nutella - chilled in refrigerator

◦Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions:

1.Whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt in a separate bowl and set aside.

2.Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. The butter will begin to foam. Make sure you whisk consistently during this process. After a couple of minutes the butter will begin to brown on the bottom of the saucepan; continue to whisk and remove from heat as soon as the butter begins to brown and give off a nutty aroma. Immediately transfer the butter to a bow to prevent burning and set aside.

3.With an electric mixer, mix the butter and sugars until thoroughly blended. Beat in the egg and egg yolk, vanilla, and yogurt until combined. Add dry ingredients slowly and beat on low speed until just combined. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.

4.Chill your dough in the refrigerator for 2 hours or 30 minutes in the freezer (2 hours in fridge is recommended)

5.After 2 hours, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Once dough is chilled, measure about 1 1/2 tbsp of dough, roll into a ball. Flatten the dough with your hand and place 1 tsp of chilled Nutella in the middle and fold dough around it; gently roll into a ball. Make sure Nutella is not seeping out through the dough. Add more dough if needed. Place dough balls on cookie sheet, 2 inches apart and flatten with your hand gently. (Really only the top needs to be flattened)

6.Bake cookies 9-11 minutes until edges of cookies begin to turn golden brown. They will look a bit underdone in the center. Cool cookies for 2 minutes and then sprinkle with sea salt and let cool on a cooling rack.

Note- This can get a little messy. I’ve found its easiest to scoop 1 tsp of the refrigerated Nutella and place on a plate and refrigerate those with the dough. Just helps with some of the mess!

Enjoy!
