A few months back, I decided I wanted to go Katy Perry Platinum blonde...everyone freaked out! I have always been a brunette of varying shades. AND most recently, I was a brunette with lighter ends...aka balayage. This is me before.
I decided to just go for it but to safely do it in stages. I went to someone I was told was the expert with taking dark hair to light (Alexa at Haus Salon in the North Loop)...fyi this is not an ad. I paid full price to see her. She's awesome and randomly is Weather Girl Jenny's friend. She was recommended to me by the Haus Salon owner, Charlie.
I've now officially done 3 phases, and I am done...at least I'm pretty sure I am. I really love it. I'm sure at some point I'll go back a bit darker, but I'm not 100% positive, and I know it will be quite a while before then. Below are photos of the process.
In phase 1, we did a balayage. SO what is hard to see in this pic is that my roots were all still dark, and we lightened more around the face and ends than anything.
Phase 2...we continued with balayage and lightened even more...again, with the roots still staying dark.
Throughout, I used my normal Ovation shampoo. I also added a purple shampoo from DP Hue to help keep the blonde color cool because I didn't want it to be brassy, and I was still trimming my hair at my original girl Sarah at Thomas Charles Salon. The final stage was just last week, and we did foils this round. I have grey hair, and I hate it. It really shows at my roots, so we put even more blonde in around the roots, and we lightened the ends even more...so here we are. I went about every 8 weeks.
