Falen's Weekend in Five Pictures 4/14-4/16

I took a trip by myself. The truth is, I had another vacation planned, but it was abruptly cancelled, and I had to think quick. I decided I needed some relaxation, good food and shopping. I have always wanted to go to Austin, so I just went. I started my trip at the Lake Austin Spa Resort. Look...this place is expensive (what up tax return), but I went! I enjoyed a massage and facial. I took a meditation class and went on a boat cruise. I also went on a canyon hike!

Sadly, I had to leave the relaxing lake setting, and I was off to South Congress Street for some real Austin action. I highly recommend the hotel I stayed in. It was the South Congress Hotel. It was super cool, modern and in the perfect location. I first went to get coffee at the famous Jo's Coffee. This wall is a famous spot to grab pics in front of in Austin. A gentleman was getting professional pics there for his album I presume, so I asked to hop in and have his people take my pic!

I did a TON of shopping, and it was BEYOND hot. I was rubbing random product samples on myself from stores to mask my scent, and my feet were covered in blisters. I had great Tex Mex, and of course, I had to have BBQ! Franklin's is the most popular BBQ in Austin, but you literally wait for like 2 hours to eat there, and I didn't have time for that, so I went to The Salt Lick. I did find that being alone is very beneficial. I never waited for anything! This is the meat pit!

Next, I went to Graffiti Park. A guy owns this land and just lets people spray paint it. Anyone can go, and it changes daily because of it, but it's closing in a couple of months. He doesn't make money on it, so he can't afford to keep paying for the taxes...sad.

I also went to see the bats. SO the South Congress Street bridge houses the biggest population of a certain type of bat in all of America. When the sun goes down, like a million fly out to go get food. People line up to watch. I will say I was told it's like a black cloud coming out, and it wasn't, so I was mildly disappointed. I did hear that by August it's better though.  OH, and how cute is this little place! They were serving "Purple Rain" Prince cupcakes, and they were SO GOOD!!! Had to get some lemonade too!
