Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of famed director Rob Reiner and producer Michele Singer Reiner, was not medically cleared to appear in court on Tuesday (December 16) following his arrest in connection to the deaths of his parents. According to his attorney, Alan Jackson, Reiner remains in custody at Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles, where he is being held without bail. Jackson stated, "Hopefully he’ll be cleared tomorrow and we can get him here," but did not specify the medical issue, describing it as "procedural."

Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead in their Brentwood, California home on Sunday (December 14), with initial reports indicating they died from stab wounds. The Los Angeles Police Department has stated that Nick Reiner is "responsible" for their deaths and was arrested without incident according to Forbes. The case is being prepared for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, but formal charges have not yet been filed.

Nick Reiner's struggles with drug addiction and homelessness have been well-documented, and he was the inspiration for his father’s 2015 film, "Being Charlie." The film depicted the challenges faced by a young addict and his family, mirroring the Reiner family's real-life experiences as noted by CNN. The investigation continues, with a news conference scheduled by the Los Angeles district attorney and police chief to discuss the case further.
