Dave’s Last Weekend With Josie in Five Pictures.

You probably heard about my dog, Josie. She was one day shy of 16 and we had to let her go. She was going downhill for a long time but was doing surprisingly well for an old girl. She still followed me around the house, loved her treats and scratches and walks.

Saturday morning we found her splayed out on the laundry room floor and not able to stand. Even after we helped her up, she couldn’t stay up. She ignored treats and food and just laid on the floor for a few hours until a vet told us it was an emergency. We took her in and the vet told us there weren’t a lot of options and within an hour, she was gone. I held her as she took her last breath and her little heart stopped.

I know you’ve probably been through this and you know how hard it is. She was the fun and energy of our house for a very long time and she was my buddy.

Thanks to Allied Veterinary Hospital in Eden Prairie and their great staff for being so compassionate and helping us though this.

But mostly thanks to all the people who reached out with kind words and support. I can’t tell you how helpful it was to hear comforting words from people like you who listen to the show and have heard stories about Josie for years.

Carson was 8 when we got Josie so he pretty much grew up with her. Here’s his post on Instagram.

An artist named Cheryl Natt @cherylnatt on Instagram, drew this picture of Josie and Roger years ago and we still have it hanging in our living room.

Happier stuff now! My friend Renita and her daughter Bella came by the studio to say hi and get a copy of my book “Little Dave’s Amazing Day” signed.

Friday night I hosted trivia at Hackmore Brewing in Chanhassen.

And had a great time with the neighbors!

It felt good to get out into the sunshine for a walk on Sunday.

The girls came over Sunday afternoon to cheer us up and they did. And I did a little magic for them.

And to cheer me up, Ava drew this picture of Josie, top right, Roger, the cat, bottom right, and her in the middle. I just love it.

Certainly not my best weekend, but I appreciate all the support from everyone who reached out. Our show is like a family sometimes and you are part of it and we all support each other. Thank you for being there.

-Dave
