Dave’s Labor Day Weekend In About Nine Pictures

I’m not a big fan of Labor Day cuz it’s the last official weekend of summer. Soon followed by cold-ass weather, dark short days, slippery roads and bleak-ness. Yes, I hate winter.

So let’s look at the very wonderful, summery past weekend, shall we?

First up, me and my girl. We went hiking on Friday and this is probably the best picture we’ve taken together. 15 1/2 and she still does great!

This was kinda sad. I got this canoe for me and Carson when he was about 8. My plan was to get some experience in it and when he was about 14 or so, I wanted us to canoe a couple hundred miles down the Missouri River in Montana. My grandfather had a ranch on the Missouri River 100 years ago so it meant a lot to me. Unfortunately, we never got around to it. Life got too busy and time slipped away. But we had a ton of fun in this canoe, and took it for several overnight trips on the Mississippi. But we haven’t used it in years so it was time to sell it on marketplace, which I did this weekend.

Saturday afternoon I went up flying.

I went up to the Buffalo airport, pulled a chair out on the grass and played my ukulele. It was wonderful and peaceful and I loved it.

Flew over Big Island on Minnetonka on the way back. The lake was about as busy as I’d ever seen it.

Sunday morning I took Ava down to the park. Can you see her? She’s running through the little playhouse.

I saw this rocket online and thought she’d like to launch it together. She did enjoy it BUT it blew into the top of a tree and we lost it. Such a bummer! One launch and done!

Later Sunday, we went to the Renaissance Festival. If you’ve gone, you know about the GIANT hill you have to walk up from parking. I got to push both girls up in the stroller. Good thing I’m a World Class Athlete! LOL!

The Renaissance Festival is kinda like a dustier state fair with better people watching.

And that’s it! Goodbye, Summer! You will be missed! See you next June!

Thank YOU for looking at my pictures!

-Dave
