Bailey's Weekend of Long Bops

Friday and Saturday was the Debate State tournament! Friday night there were 3 preliminary rounds, we got to leave school early and were competing until 8:30pm. It's weird but also cool being in a high school after dark! I had 5 Novice teams competing and one of my Varsity members judging!

Saturday had two more preliminary rounds and then we broke into out-rounds. Two of my novice teams made octa-finals! They were both 4-1 in preliminary rounds. They didn't make it past that, but were voted on 2-1 so it wasn't a sweep for either team. That, AND all my other teams at least won 2 of their 5 rounds, which I still think is a great accomplishment for novices. The best showing the Mounds View Mustangs have had since the Debate team started 4 years ago.

Saturday we also had the MN Goodbye live podcast, which was a great success! It's always fun seeing Tony and all our great listeners. (Also I was really proud of the polka dot on polka dot on polka dot outfit)

Sunday I drove up to Duluth to see Jaiden in her school play, A Wicked Christmas Carol, which was Christmas Carol with Wizard of Oz characters. Instead of Scrooge, the main character was the Wicked Witch, and Jaiden played the younger version we see with the Ghost of Christmas Past.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well she did! It was her first play and yes, it was 5 hours of driving total, but it was worth it to see her get to do something she's always wanted to.
