Bailey's Medieval Weekend in 5 Pics

Thursday and Friday afternoon/night I was a judge for the first time for the MN One Act Play Competition! I judged Subsection 4AA and saw 11 high school shows overall. Me and two other judges ranked them from first to last and got to send 3 shows onto Sections! I remember doing One Acts in high school and loving it - it's amazing to see what these theatre programs and students accomplish.

Saturday was the 2nd annual Medieval Melee Speech tournament, the home tournament co-hosted by Mounds View and Irondale. It's been a busy few months planning it, but it went far smoother than last year and we already have plans for next year to make it even better! So many Speech tournaments are stuffy affairs, so we aimed to make ours FUN by making it renaissance themed. People came dressed up, we sold flower crowns, had a town crier and a wizard for entertainment, and knighted/crowned the winners of each category. HUZZAH!

All of my pictures are from this tournament - lol. I had a handful of finalists and a team picture with me in it!

My colleague Alex Gray is the head coach of Irondale, and we have started a new tradition of this particular photo every year. During the Speech season, Mr. Gray truly becomes my bff. We couldn't do it without the other. Superteam forever.

We had the full coaching staff from both Irondale and Mounds View there, AND I had 6 alumni of the Speech team there judging, some I haven't seen in years. I've coached for 11 years, so having folks return and give back to the activity really means the world. I love them all so much.

Sunday I did end up driving to Northfield, but was only there a couple hours before heading back home. I'm catsitting for my friend Sarah, and her whole apartment feels like a vibey little bookshop, so I started reading Rebecca by lamplight before heading back home to snuggle with Capp.
