Lola Young had the best reaction to winning her very first Grammy Award.
The 25-year-old British singer couldn't believe her ears when she won Best Pop Solo Performance for her song "Messy" at the 2026 Grammy Awards at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday (February 1), beating fellow nominees Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, per People.
Young, who was also nominated for Best New Artist, was visibly surprised to hear her name called by presenter Charli XCX, jumping out of her seat and running away from her table where she waited in shock before making her way to the stage to explain how "very, very grateful" she was to win the award.
"I don't have any speech prepared. Obviously, I don't. It's 'Messy,' do you know what I mean?" she said, adding, "I don't know what to say. Thank you so much. You can tell by my f---ing face. Sorry, sorry, sorry."
Young's win comes months after she collapsed on stage during the All Things Go festival in September 2025 and later announced she was "going away for a while" and canceling her upcoming performances, apologizing for "[letting] anyone down" and asking, "I really hope you'll give me a second chance once I've had some time to work on myself and come back stronger."
