I kicked off the weekend with hosting my September Fit Club at Flight! Love seeing familiar faces and new ones come out to my Fit Club! (Bailey is the one laying on the floor but her head's cut off by the weights lolz)
I wanted to tackle a kitchen project I've been putting off since June. I knocked down some of my the upper cabinets to put in open shelving and open the space up. I had no idea how to fix the wall so I reached out to my sister that is a DIY home remodeling queen and she started guiding me through what I needed to do which was basically mudding. I watched a ton of YouTube videos and let me tell you, this is one thing from YouTube University I learned and didn't excel at right away. I fixed up the lower third on Saturday (1st pic is what it looked like before) and then did a full layer on Sunday (2nd pic). Will I end up hiring someone to do it so that my walls aren't super uneven, maybe, but I'm still giving it a try for right now!
Saturday night I did one of the most random things I've done in a while, I signed up for a triathlon that was happening Sunday morning! My bike has been broke all summer but a friend fixed it for me a few weeks ago so I started biking quite a bit and was entertaining doing another triathlon. I did One Last Tri in White Bear Lake which is the first tri I've ever done so I was familiar with it but when I tell you I did not train at all for this, I mean it. Haven't swam since the last tri I did 3 years ago. However, I've consistently worked out for the past 5 years and that's what got me through it!
I ended up beating my time from the first time by over 4 minutes and placed 48 out of 124 overall and 13 out of 55 for females. I didn't do this for the competitive aspect, just to see if my body could do it, but I'll take it! It might sound braggy to talk about all this but I'm just so happy I've stayed healthy to the point that I was able to sign up for something like this the night before and complete it :)
I truly love triathlons! I like to swim, love to bike, and depends on my mood that day for how I feel about running, but it's fun to do the variety of each versus just one (I didn't love the half marathon I did) and to take in the energy at these races, it's something I hope you can experience, even if it's just to cheer someone on!
