Early 2000s It girls Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie celebrated the release of their three-part Simple Life reunion special with an unforgettable Call Her Daddy interview on Wednesday (December 11) and got candid about their families, friendships, holiday preparations, and so much more.
Hilton and Richie told podcast host Alex Cooper that they've been friends for as long as they can remember, growing up in the same neighborhood, attending the same schools, having the same teachers, and even being apart of the same friend group well into their high school years.
That's hot.
After creating immeasurable memories together in their teens, the sliving Hollywood icons packed their bags and headed to Arkansas to film The Simple Life which proceeded amicably until season four.
Cooper addressed the duo's widely known rift that occurred in 2005, and Richie revealed that "nothing" actually happened between them to start the feud.
"Nothing really happened." Hilton zoomed in on the real culprit: the media.
"Back then, the media was just so toxic and they loved starting feuds between people because, obviously, that sold tabloids. So it was mostly the media just spinning things and creating drama that didn’t exist, which was normal in the 2000s. They did it with everyone."
The stars admitted that they did not communicate well in their early 20s and would see something about the other in the tabloids and believe it to be true. While she was sad to be apart from her friend, the entire experience taught Richie a valuable lesson that she carried on to adulthood.
"We didn’t have the communication skills we have right now to have check-ins, which is so important. I think it has really helped me [with] communicating at this stage in my life. And I think just with all relationships, it’s so important to have check-ins and to be honest and real and, you know, tender with the people that you love the most."
It didn't take long for The Simple Life legends to reunite despite media casting shade on the timeline of their rift.
