Andrew and I just spent the last week in Tahiti and had such a great time! We started the trip off driving and exploring the whole island. Here's one of the many waterfalls on the island.
We went to hike one of the peak hikes our second day. Right before the hike was this lookout and part of me was like "well this is good enough, we can skip the hike", lol.
But we did continue on and while is was a gorgeous hike, clouds started rolling in once we got towards the top so there wasn't much of a view from there but this is how it started!
After two days in Tahiti, we took a ferry over to Moorea. We stayed in an Airbnb bungalow for two nights that was right on the water and about 1/6 of the price of the expensive overwater bungalows at the fancy hotels. We didn't have A/C but being right on the ocean kept a cool breeze coming through and it was perfectly fine without it. This was the view looking out of the bungalow.
We did another hike in Moorea called Mount Rotui and it was by far the most challenging hike I've ever done. It was mostly a ridge line hike so it was steep, technical, humid, and mentally hard. We made it about 3/4 of the way until we turned around because the peak started having what looked like storm clouds over it and this hike would have been even more terrifying doing it in rain.
But the views were totally worth the blood (I did cut my hand), sweat, and tears (no tears this time besides the sweat dripping into my eyes).
Outside of our Airbnb was the sting ray and shark lagoon where all the snorkeling excursions happen so we hit that up. The first time we didn't have much luck because it was windy but we got up early one morning and went out and saw so many sting rays and sharks. It was scary at first but you quickly realize that sting rays are just like puppies looking for a treat and are completely harmless as long as you don't step on their stinger (RIP Steve Irwin).
Our host told us that crabs ruin his yard and that if we see any we can try to stomp on them and throw them in the ocean and we'll see spotted eagle sting rays come up and get them. So we made it our mission to try it one night and Andrew got one. We threw it in the ocean and waited for a while but never saw a spotted ray.
We did another short hike to this view point of Mount Rotui, the hike I mentioned earlier.
This was my favorite beach called Temae Beach. It had some of the best snorkeling!
We ended the trip staying at a hotel called Cooks Bay Hotel. We did actually relax our last day at the pool instead of running around doing another hike or snorkeling or exploring and it was the perfect end to the trip!
We did so much on this trip it felt like we were gone for 2 weeks instead of 1. I'm definitely ready to get back into the swing of things and to see some snow! Thanks for reading my blog and check out my Instagram for more pics/videos from my trip here!
