If you haven't seen it, a video has been making the rounds of three women on inflatable tubes having a very close encounter with an alligator that's perched on a log. This was on Florida's Ichetucknee River. (Itch-a-tuck-knee.)
One woman is so close to the log she uses her foot to push herself away.
