If a stranger comes to your door, do you answer, or pretend you're not home? According to this crime reporter you should answer OR make enough noise so burglars know you ARE home. They'll leave if someone's there.
They prefer the "knock & kick" method. They want to kick your door down, steal as much as they can, and then scoot. If they think the coast is clear and they enter, but you ARE there . . . then you're face-to-face with a criminal.
