We've ALL been there. We've all probably been there in the past few weeks. You have plans with someone that night and it hits you . . . you'd REALLY rather stay in.
So . . . what's the latest time in the day you can cancel without guaranteeing you'll ruin the other person's night?
According to "New York" magazine, the absolute latest you can cancel plans for that night is . . . 2:00 p.m.
Quote, "At 2:00 p.m., there's still ample time for your friend to text around and find another dinner companion . . . by 3:00 p.m., they almost certainly will be alone for the night."
There's one big exception, though: If the other person is COOKING for you.
In that case, you have to cancel 24 hours beforehand.
