Should this be allowed, or would you say it's unfair treatment? A court in England just awarded a 51-year-old cashier over $90,000 in compensation . . . after everyone at her work was invited to happy hour except her. And because of the fallout, she quit.
She only found out about the happy hour because her coworkers talked about it in front of her. She's mixed race and had complained about discrimination before. The judge said that was one of the reasons people didn't want her there, and age was a factor too.
She resigned in December and filed a lawsuit in February. They said that excluding her from happy hour forced her to, quote, "lose the opportunity to bond with colleagues." She was awarded just under $93,000 in damages.
