Absolutely Minnesota: Help Thank Frontline Workers with a Gratitude Lunch

Dr. Rewati Teeparti, a physician here in the Twin Cities sent us a note looking for help so she can thank those frontline workers and essential health care workers.

Hi Dave,

I’m a physician, work at a hospital/nursing home/home care, I have been working on the covid units since March.

After finishing my first Covid unit duty, I felt very thankful to our nurses to whom I started sending lunches. Initially I was alone in sending lunches to the Covid unit staff and intensive care unit staff at Methodist Hospital. After a while few of my friends joined me. As the word started spreading many members of the Indian community joined this project of gratitude lunches and we were able to send more than 2700 lunches to almost all the hospitals and a few nursing homes in the Twin Cities. Due to generousDonations off the community members we were not only able to send out thank you’s to nurses but up but we also were able to include many other essential staff at the hospital who are all forgotten. This included cleaning crew, transportation crew, security personnel, front greeters at the hospital, pharmacy department, respiratory therapist who are administering essential medications to these positive patients, nursing aides, lab technicians.

Towards the end we were able to send lunches to team shelters, adult shelters and homeless shelters.

I’m hoping if I can get some kind of help from you with respect to spreading this word we may be able to get our fundraising efforts and it strengthened. Now we have shifted at attention from lunches to essential PPE supplies to the stranded nursing homes were taking Covid positive patients but need the supplies very urgently.

Thank you
