I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! It's always a little hectic with family, cooking, shopping, etc. but it's the best. It was a little different this year because Carson and I flew to Colorado to see his brother Chase and his fiance's family for Thanksgiving. The older kids get, the more effort it takes to get them together, but we didn't want to miss it.
Here's my weekend in 10 pictures!
Chase's fiancee' Maddie hosted her first Thanksgiving and she nailed it! That's her brother, sister and mom at the table. Stepdad took the picture. Someone always gets left out of family pictures! My contribution was crock pot sweet pototoes. I used real, not canned sweet potatoes and I doubled the sauce recipe, put 'em on high in the crock pot for 4 hours and they were amazing! Here's the recipe.
Chase has always been a riot. Of course he had to go sledding in the backyard.
This is Chase's cat, Mavis. He found her homeless in Yuma, AZ and now she has her own pillow in front of the fire. Awwwwww...
Just hanging out after dinner.
On the flight home, Carson proved that even college kids still can use their dad's shoulder for a pillow.
It was a short visit but it was great. Dropping my boy off at the airport Saturday was sad, but he'll be back home in three weeks.
Saturday afternoon, I watched a great Christmas movie that really appealed to me because it's about a super rich and popular radio deejay getting fired right before Christmas. Now, most of us deejays will never be as rich or famous as the one in the movie, but it was sweet and silly and really good. It's called "Holiday Rush" and it's on Netflix. After I watched it, I tweeted about it and the movie's screenwriter tweeted me back saying thanks for watching it! How cool is that?
If you're a Settlers of Catan fan, there's a card game that decently recreates the board game. It's called The Struggle For Catan. It plays a lot faster than the regular game and it's simple to learn, especially if you have played Catan before. The good: It's simple, plays fast, you can play with 2-4 people, and it's portable. The bad: There really isn't any except it's not as fun as the regular game but how could it be?
Sunday, I made a bunch of Clipadoos because word has gotten out that they're a great gift for dog owners and make a great stocking stuffer. Order yours here!
And Sunday, my daughter Allison came out and helped us get a tree. We always buy ours from the Boy Scouts or the Lions. Why get your tree at a big department store when you can get one and support charity?
That's it! Have a great week
