Growing up I loved the idea of a secret room and when we finally bought a house a few years ago I finally had the opportunity to build one in our basement. My dream was always to have a sculpture of someone like Shakespeare or Mozart in the room, I'd flip back the sculptures chin to reveal a button which reveals the secret room.
The construction of my room is pretty basic but it works. This is what you see when you comedown into our basement.
I built a wall with a door in a small corner of our basement and built two bookcases which hang like barn doors. The concept isn't perfect but it's still pretty cool. The TOUGHEST part of the build which I think I would have done a bit differently is construction of "header" above the bookcase. Check out a quick tour and see what it looks like below.
