Dave's Weekend in Five Pictures: I Met Up With An Old High School Crush

Yes, I did it! I went to my old high school crush's birthday party on Sunday. But I'll get to that in a minute. First here are some other pics from my weekend!

My favorite place to walk is in Lake Minnewashta Park. I've talked about it a few times. And like most dog-owners, I keep my dog on a leash. I get it, it's more fun for them and fun for us to see them run around free, but that's what the dog parks is for. So Saturday morning, here comes a big dog freely bounding up the path, followed by another big dog (you can kinda see it) The owner was so far behind them she couldn't even see where her dogs were.

It's simple. Keep your dog on a leash and pick up their poop. That's part of what comes with the territory when you become a dog owner.

I started listening to this book on Saturday and I'm almost done with it already. It's so interesting. Basically it talks about how our normal human tendency is to believe lies other people tell us until we get to a point where there's so much doubt that we finally start to question the crap the tell us. That's why so many people get scammed by online dating. A guy tells you he's successful, pretends to be friendly and kind and then later, when you see he's very much a jerk and a liar, you keep taking him back because it's much more human to believe a liar than to doubt him.

It was kind of a slow weekend without many photo ops so I took yet another picture of my cappuccino/latte maker. It's awesome and I use it every weekend.

Back out Sunday morning for another long walk with Josie. It was damp and grey and cool and even though I'm a big fan of summer, it was moody and quiet and I loved it. The park was pretty much abandoned but there's always someone at an abandoned park sitting in their car, all alone in the corner of a secluded parking lot. I wonder what that's all about?

This is Suzie. When we were in high school in Colorado, I had a crush on her because she was loud, funny, popular and yes, she was hot! Did I ever speak to her? Oh no. I was too shy and she was way out of my league.

One drunken night about 6 or 7 years ago I found her on Facebook and friended her. She says she remembers me but who knows? Maybe she was just being polite. We would "Like" each other's posts here and there and say "Happy Birthday" but that was it.

A few weeks ago I got a Facebook invite to her birthday party. I wasn't sure if I should go or not. I mean, I'm not shy anymore and it would be fun to see her, but honestly, I felt a little creepy about it. I talked about it on the air, (Steve said go, Lena said don't go) and my wife said "Go, because I don't want to hear you bitching for the next month about how you should have gone)

So I went. And I'm so glad I did. It was fun to see what she had been doing with her life, meet her son and all her friends. (Yes, she still has a bazillion friends)

I'm glad I went! We don't have any plans to see each other again, but it was super fun to meet up with my old crush after all these years!

I hope you had a good weekend!

Thanks for looking at my blog!
