Dave's Weekend in Five Pictures: Trying TWO Things I've Never Tried Before

What a gorgeous weekend! I really hope you got out and enjoyed it and have some great pictures of your own from your weekend! (Maybe you should start your own Weekend in Five Pictures and put them on your Facebook or Instagram! The weather was perfect and I stayed pretty busy do some fun stuff! Let's get started with five pictures from my weekend!

Friday night, we just got on the motorcycle and went riding. We ended up at Fletcher's on Lake Minnetonka. It's always busy there but we were able to snag a table and commence to people watch and jealously ogle expensive boats.

Back at home Friday night, I practiced my banjolele in the backyard. Not to sound corny, but playing this thing gives me the most simple joy ever. I'm not that good at it, but I can actually play recognizable songs on it. If you have ever wanted to learn to play an instrument, pick up a ukulele. They're cheap; you can get a good one for under $100 and there's a million free lessons on YouTube. Plus they're very easy to learn enough to play music with.

Saturday afternoon I texted Falen and Jenny to ask for a suggestion for a restaurant in Northeast. They both suggested Young Joni and we by a stroke of luck, snagged two seats at the bar and had this. It's a whole fish, complete with head and eyes, something I'd never have wanted to try before and it was great. I wish I'd caught our server's name because he was the kindest, most helpful and best server I've ever had.

Sunday, I tried out my brand new smoker, another first for me. They say the first time using a smoker is pretty much an experiment and it was. I smoked two racks of pork ribs for 5 hours and when I pulled them out, they looked a little overdone. They actually turned out fine and even though I probably put a little too much wood in there to smoke them with, they were really good.

Here's the final product.

I hope you have a great week! It's Star Party Week so good luck getting tickets if you haven't already! It's also my son Carson's last week of school before graduation which you know is going to be an emotional one for me.

Thanks for looking at my blog!
