Land lines. A miracle of modern technology, until about 1990 when pretty much everyone started to get a cell phone. But if you were born before 1998, you remember how real the struggle was.
Taking the phone into another room to get some privacy.
Taking pictures on expensive film and paying for it to be processed only to find out the pictures you took weren't all that great.
Hearing someone in your house tell you to get off the internet so they could use the phone.
And having to write down or remember everyone's phone number.
