Lifehack: Seven Ways to Iron without An Iron

For some reason, you don't have an iron but you still need to iron something, have no fear, you can still do it. Here's how to iron clothes WITHOUT an iron.

  • Spritz on a wrinkle-releaser - Spray the problem area with a little Downy Wrinkle Releaser or Crease Release and hang dry.
  • Flat iron your shirt collar - Put your hair straightener to use pressing the collar of your shirt or a small wrinkle in your blouse. Just make sure you wipe off any product before and check your heat setting first.
  • Blow dry your dress - Concentrated bursts of hot air can save you when you don’t have an iron. Be sure to hold the hair dryer back around two-inches so you don’t scorch the fabric.
  • Steam with a pot of tea - If you have tiny wrinkles, the steam from a kettle can help get rid of them, just hold clothing around 12-inches from the spout of the kettle.
  • Tumble dry with ice cubes - It sounds odd, but if you throw a wrinkled shirt in the dryer with a couple ice cubes and run it on hot for a few minutes, the ice melts and creates steam to help de-wrinkle your garment.
  • Roll your top like a burrito - Lay the wrinkled item flat, smooth wrinkles out, then roll it up tight, like a burrito. Next, stick the item under a mattress for 15 to 30 minutes and it literally presses your clothes.
  • Steam clothes in the shower - This old school fix helps when you’re traveling don’t have your usual supplies. Close the bathroom door and hang the wrinkled clothing on the shower rod and do your normal routine and when you’re finished, hopefully you’ll have wrinkle-free clothes.
