So i was doing some woodworking in the garage. My jointer caught the tip of my glove, sucked it right into the blades. I kicked on my garage door to get my wife's attention. She finally came down, I think she was watching the bachelor. I told her, I just cut my finger off. She said ,what!!! I uncovered my finger and she kinda freaked. I told her i needed a clean rag, she cleans houses so there was a stack of clean ones right behind her. The door shut. I waited and waited. So i kicked the door again. The door opened and she had a bad of ice. I told her, that wasnt going to work. My finger is gone, i told her. Bless her for thinking. I said ," i just need to get to the hospital. So off we go. We get to the Princeton emergency room. I walk in holding my finger above my head. The nurse asked" can i help you?" I replied. I just cut my finger off. She then says, "have a seat we will get right to you". I then reply ,"i am starting to feel light headed." Oh ok, she says. We will will get your blood pressure then get you a room. My wife said about this time i was white as a ghost. I told the nurse to just get me a room, trust me. So they did. 5 minutes later a different nurse comes in and says," on a scale of 1-10 how bad is the pain? I replied with," considering i cut my finger off 20 minutes ago it hurts like hell. So they gave me pain meds and shot something into my finger and numbed it all. There was no orthopedic surgeon there so they had to load me into an ambulance and bring me to north memorial. Of course its my right index finger. The worst possible to cut off. Makes for good tricks for my nephews. I suppose and people in traffic. Looks like i have my finger way up my nose. Funny.

I lost my left pinky when I was 7 years old. I was playing with some kids on a gate to an entrance of a paved trail for walking. They swing on a metal post in the ground. But both the pole and the gate have holes that you can line up and put a bolt and lock through. Basically I had my finger in the two holes (no bolt or anything through them) and a kid swung the gate so the hole in the metal post in the ground held my finger while the gate sliced it clean off.

Becky Part 1 - My name is Becky. I am a nurse. I was working at detox when a patient threw a chair at a staff member. We put violent patients into a "quiet room" (for their protection and the safety of others). I walked the patient into the quiet room and he shoved the door as hard as he could. Unfortunately my hand was in the doorframe and it amputated my middle finger and crushed the index finger. I had to pick my fingertip off the floor, and it was still warm!

So last Saturday 5/13 I was at my buddies shop making my wife a birthday present. Her birthday is at the end of the month. Thought I was starting the project early enough to have it done by the 28th. While working on the table saw I somehow got my fingers to close to the blade. My buddy rushed me to the emergency room after looking for my digit on the table saw (it was still attached, but he was totally prepared to pick it up and bring it with if necessary). I got checked in, my buddy who drove me to the emergency room, Kevin, called my wife and I not so patiently waited for pain killers to kick in.

Ron Part 1 - I am writing this on behalf of my dad Ron Gervais. My dad does amazing woodworking as a hobby. He is 64 years old and has been a mechanic full time for many years. When he isn't at work, he is in his shop making another masterpiece. On a Sunday morning March 8th 2015, my dad was out in his shop working on his latest project using a table saw, and a pusher to push wood through the saw, the wood had a knot in it and kicked up. My dad had put his hand into the saw. My mom had just returned home from urgent care herself, she had strep. She was laying down in bed when my dad came storming in the house yelling for my mom. He yelled sue I just cut my fingers off! She called 911, where an ambulance took him to regions hospital. My dad had cut his thumb off and half his pointer finger. He was in surgery for over 8 hours. They were able to reattach his thumb finally at the third attempt. They had to amputate his pointer finger. Here are a couple of photos from after surgery and one from today. #missingfingermonday

I had the pleasure of joining the nub club a couple of years back. I was working on a piece of heavy equipment trying to find a leaking hydraulic hose. It sprayed a couple of times and when I tried the machine for a third time, it didn't spray. When I went to push in what I thought was a failed hose, it decided to spray 3000+ psi hydraulic oil into my finger. No it didn't blow the finger apart but it did inject my finger full of wonderfully hot hydraulic fluid. I told the doctor to snip it of when I was brought to the hospital but he said nahhh, well try to save it. Another way of saying lets make a 100k and put you through misery. Two weeks went by with the tissue slowly dying and turning completely black and green and stinking like a rotten deli sandwich. I could fill a joke book with nub jokes I've heard and can flip people off in an passive aggressive way with me feeling the satisfaction of flipping them of without them even realizing it.

2 years ago, I lost my finger to a circular saw. Our oldest son broke our wooden fence gate, allowing out dog to get out and roam the neighborhood. Since he is an overly friendly dog and the boys would be devastated to lose him...I had to fix the gate. So, with my oldest son and father in law, on the Sunny Saturday afternoon of April 11th; I got out the saw, drill, tensioner wire, and screws and went to work. To ensure our son couldn't break the gate again, the wife and I got some braided steel rope (nice and strong). As we are hanging the gate back to its post, the board on the lower portion of the swinging door was too long and rubbed on the post. This is when it got interesting. I begin to cut the board and my father-in-law says "hold up, you will hit the extension cord" and proceeds to move the power source. I am cutting and not even half way through the board, there is a gust of wind and braided wire falls into the circular saw, causing the saw blade to jump and cut through my knuckle of my left index finger. I immediately begin to yell call 911 and freak the hell out of my wife (who is getting our youngest 2 boys popsicles and prepping dinner inside the house). She panics gets me a towel and says she has to drive me because it will be faster. My father-in-laws car was blocking us in, so looks like we are taking the boat (Buick Park Avenue). My wife runs every red light, stop sign and does 100 to get me to the ER at Woodwinds Hospital. I am seen immediately and the offer me apple juice to keep me from going into shock since it has been 8 hours since my last meal. After 2 hours in the ER, the nurse comes in and tells me that the doctor wants me to come back on Monday, so he will wrap my finger up and send me on my way. I ask why, he tells me that it's because I had apple juice two hours ago and the anesthesiologist is nervous about putting me out. Completely pissed off now, I tell them I'm going to the parking lot to cut through the skin with my wifes knife, that i know is in her purse, and I will be back for them to stitch this shit shut and proceed to get up and start washing my hands. The nurse panics and calls the doctor back. Long story short, came into ER at 3pm, had the rest of my.finger fixed (amputated) at 11pm.

Pat Part 1 - While this might not fit exactly under the category of “Missing Finger” my accident with a lawn mower 2 weeks ago, has given me a slightly missing big toe and a severely broken second toe, (now with a pin after surgery.) Two Saturdays ago, I had two passes left to mow on my yard when I slipped on a small hill and in an instant, the mower and my foot collided. I didn’t initially know how severe the injury was until I got inside and removed my shoe. After a long afternoon in the ER and orthopedic surgery, my big toe’s tip and nail bed are gone, and the second toe has a pin. I am on crutches at least for a couple more weeks until the doctor determines what’s next. I was wearing tennis shoes and never thought an accident like this could happen to me, but it did! Use this as a PSA for anyone listening if anything, to be more cautious this summer!

Hi my name is Nicholas Quist and I’m 21 yrs old! My story I think is a pretty good one. So almost exactly two years ago on june 3rd I was working at a daycare center in maplewood. I was going about my normal routine of building things for the kids and general maintenance nothing out of the ordinary. I started working on a project for the kids and to prep for materials I had to go outside and use a table saw, something I’ve used before many times. The first couple cuts went fine but then it happend and in an instant I sliced off my right index my middle finger and my ring finger but it was still dangling. The canopy I was under has a streak if blood across the it from the saw blade as well as the shirt I was wearing. I remember walking inside the building holding my hand screaming at my boss "carol I cut myself” to which she replied do you need a band aid then I had to walk into the room where about 15 to 20 4 and 5 yr olds were playing bleeding all over the place dripping blood on the floor absolutely terrifying the kids and fellow staff members. When the ambulance arrived they wanted to take me down the stairs in some special robotic chair but I anted the drugs so bad that as soon as the wrapped my hand up I just got up and walked out to the ambulance. When I was at the hospital all drugged up I remember thinking my hand was messed up but cool at the same time so id try to examine it. The attached links are of before and after.

Our neighborhood is pretty tight, meaning we all hang out a lot. Two summers ago we were at one of our neighbors cabin in Bemidji. Several of us were out boating and stopped on the water to do some swimming, etc. My neighbor Bryan was facing the side of the boat and hopped off the dege. On his way down his ring finger (wedding ring) slid into the rope cleat on the boat and popped his finger off. It flew up into the boat and landed in the seat. Side note: Chad the boat owner thought it was fake (prior finger prank a few months earlier) so picked it up then started yelling "This is real! This is real!" Bryan then surfaced with his arm in the air, looked at his finger and said "well that ain't good"! We got him back in the boat, one guy held Bryan's finger in a cup in a beer cooler. We had Bryan's wife meet us at a bridge in a car so we could get him to the hospital with a shirt half on, his hand wrapped in a dirty towel, and his finger in my wife's lunch cooler. We walked in the the employee at the front desk called for some help "we have a laceration". Thats when I set the cooler on the desk and said I have a finger in here. The employee calls back out "scratch that, we have an amputation"! There's probably more details to the story, but in the end the finger didn't make it. Good times...

This is the result of a failed at home project. Warped wood and the hand went through the saw. Got it sewed back on. Most expensive project ever!

Molly Part 1 - February of 2016 I was making myself a lovely treat in a blender when it had some sort of malfunction and broke (there's a lawsuit going on so I cannot go into specifics). My hand went right into the running blades and it slaughtered three fingers on my right hand. Initially they reattached all three fingers but had to take off the ring finger when it died and turned black. A year and some months later, I have had multiple surgeries and pins to try and fix it as best as possible. It's a big guessing game for everyone!

Steve Part 1 - I was using a compound miter saw to cut material, and someone bumped me- my thumb got caught in the blade. The top of it fell right off. I calmly said to my cousin (he was helping me) "I gotta go to the hospital, I chopped my thumb off." I drove myself to the hcmc, with a towel wrapped around my thumb and walked into the emergency room (my wife met me there, she was an employee at the time). My cousin brought my thumb later in a ziploc bag. I got into a verbal argument with the nurse (I "won") and joked around with the DR about a zombie apocalypse, and how I'd be able to hold my Xbox controller later. People always joke about it, even when it was literally happening people were cracking jokes, but it actually really hurt! I had to sleep with it propped up, it was bandaged like a mummy, and I couldn't get my heart rate up- and I'm a fairly big guy so the pain pills were worthless. They weren't able to attack the thumb as the bone was destroyed, and there was too much contamination. They weren't going to let me take it but I still have it in the freezer in a specimen cup, much to my wife's disgust. I have lots of jokes about the endless possibilities for it! My wife says now it looks like a character from The Hills Have Eyes, as it "grew" back a bit. It freaks her out.

I was about a year into my new job so I was still kind of the new guy at work and was trying hustle and look good to earn my place. I was pushing a heavy steel cart that had steel brackets that slid back and forth to adjust accordingly. Well I was coming around a corner with the cart and the bracket caught the side of the mill and slid all the way back to where my hand was holding the cart and smashed my finger. It happened so fast that I didn't even know it came off. I pulled my glove off to look at it because it felt like I pinched it. Like a blood blister or along them lines anyways.... boy was I wrong. Once the glove came off was the first time in my life I went into shock. I've seen stuff like this on videos but never could imagine my own body parts dangling. So long story short, instead of looking good to the boss by hustling he was driving me to the hospital literally calling me a dumb***.
