Eliza Wasni, 16, was charged with first-degree murder Wednesday (5/31) after allegedly stabbing an Uber driver to death in suburban Chicago over Memorial Day weekend.

Wasni, who's been charged as an adult, hailed an Uber from a local Walmart early Tuesday morning, prosecutors told reporters at a news conference. Shortly after she entered the vehicle, Wasni began stabbing the driver-- later identified as 34-year-old Grant Nelson-- with a shoplifted machete and knife, prosecutors said.

Nelson succumbed to his wounds after being transported to Presence St. Francis Hospital.
