The Contest KDWB Hosted 48 Years-Ago We'd NEVER Be Allowed to Do Today

Back in the day, I think KDWB must not have had as many lawyers because if we attempted this contest NOW we'd get laughed off the phone. The contest was for a brand new color TV and a group of high school students built the impossible.

Thanks to Crow River News for sharing this piece of history, here's what they said about the snowman.

On this day in Crow River history: So much for the first day of spring! Junior STMA students win the largest snowman contest through radio station 101.3 KDWB in 1969. An estimated $100,000 in equipment was temporarily donated to get the snow where it needed to go, and many classes came to view the snowman for weeks after.
