A Profession That Was Once Highly Respected, But Is Now a Complete Joke...

There was a time when one of the hottest jobs in tech was becoming a manager at Circuit City. Things change.

People online are talking about professions that were once HIGHLY RESPECTED . . . but are now considered a "complete joke."

In some cases, it's SAD that they're not more highly regarded . . . like careers in education. In others, the decline is just a sign of the times.

Here are some notable ones:

1. Retail . . . Primarily for wage reasons.

2. Bank teller . . . Someone said, "It used to be a foot in the door to the finance industry. Now it's basically a 20-something, credit card salesperson."

3. Taxi driver . . . This is maybe a case where the industry became so bad that people jumped at alternatives like Uber and Lyft when they launched.

4. Astrologer . . . "Royals used to consult with astrologers to see what was 'written in the stars' for them, and it was considered a genuine science."

5. Teacher . . . "The complete lack of respect by governments . . . parents . . . and kids is astonishing."

6. Wedding photographers . . . "Went from being the preservers of authentic, joyful moments . . . to being content creators that manufacture those 'authentic' moments for likes and bride-fluencers."

7. Journalists . . . "Somewhere along the way it stopped being about delivering the news in a timely manner, and started being about getting clicks and being the first to report something, even if it might not have been true."

(Also "news anchors" that have made the news more about THEM and THEIR TAKES than whatever they're reporting on.)

8. Politicians, including the president . . . If they were ever respected.

9. Working for an airline . . . "It used to be an admirable, classy job . . . now it's embarrassing as airlines treat people like cattle."

10. Real estate agents . . . "It's just become a Plan B career."

11. Travel agents . . . "Now it's mostly just surfing the internet."

12. Chiropractors . . . "That whole industry needs a major . . . adjustment."

13. Truck driving . . . One retired driver said, "Truckers used to be called the knights of the road, now they're a bunch of clowns."

14. Mail carrier . . . These days, these jobs are "overworked and underpaid."

15. One person said, "The REAL question is: Are there professions left that people respect?" And someone said, "Firefighters." And . . . well, TRUE.

(I will also add that your local RADIO DJ did NOT make the list. Even though, I'll admit: I am a complete joke. In an endearing way.)  (???)
