The Top 3 Things We're Googling About Student Loan Forgiveness

The government started accepting applications for President Biden's student loan forgiveness program this week. That's where you can get $10,000 of your dept wiped out, or up to $20,000 if you have a Pell Grant.

To qualify, you need to have made less than $125,000 in 2021 or 2020, or less than $250,000 if you filed jointly.

If you're still not clear on the process, this might help. Here are the top three questions we've been googling about it, according to Google Trends . . .

1.  "Is the student loan forgiveness application available?" Yes. It launched on Monday. Go to StudentAid.gov. There's a button at the top that says "Apply Now".  (Here's a direct link.

2.  "How long does the student loan forgiveness application take?" It should take less than five minutes to fill out. You just have to plug in a few things like your name, social security number, and date of birth.

3.  "How long will it take to process?" If you do it by mid-November and qualify, they say you should see loan forgiveness by the end of the year. You technically have until the end of 2023 to apply though.
