I got this email last week...and I loved that she saved it! And I'm happy that "1997 Me" wrote her back! Honestly, I appreciate people who listen so much. It really is one of the best parts of my job to connect with people.
I think a lot of people do radio for themselves. Because it feels good to get attention. I don't. I really don't like attention. I enjoy doing radio because of the way it makes other people feel.
Hello Dave,
OMG.... I was going through and cleaning out old paper files in file drawers and shredding lots of paper and then I ran across a file titled "KDWB Radio Station" and I thought I must have saved an old bumper sticker or something. Nope. I didn't even remember I did this and this was before email and ordering anything online. I live in Minnesota, but at the time we lived near Eau Claire Wisconsin. I must have written you a snail letter (wish I had a copy of it) at the time asking how I could get a hold of a KDWB T-shirt by mail and you actually handwrote a snail mail message back to me on KDWB notepad paper (copy attached). You handwrote my address on the KDWB envelope and the envelope was postmarked January 28, 1997. I totally forgot I had this. Thought this would be a fun blast from the past to share with you. I still listen to you guys in the morning when I can. I love you and Falen (I absolutely adore Falen's laugh), I miss Steve. After reading your note from 1997, I had forgotten about Hirem. Now it turns out that my daughter-in-law listens to you guys in the morning too.
Thank you for generations of radio enjoyment in the morning! You guys are priceless Needless to say this paper file will not be shredded and it will be returned to my downsized file cabinet.
