It's time for "Nerd News," covering the most important news for your brain you may have missed. Here's a quick rundown of this week in science . . .
1. A new study found the biggest whales in the world eat about three times more than we thought. A single blue whale can consume 20 to 50 MILLION calories a day . . . or the equivalent of 80,000 Big Macs.
2. In other animal news: Two California condor chicks hatched from unfertilized eggs. So they can reproduce asexually without mating, which is something we didn't know.
3. In space news: Astronauts grew peppers on the Space Station for the first time, and used them to make tacos. And Sam Adams has a new limited-edition beer called Space Craft, made with hops that orbited the Earth on a SpaceX mission in September.
Speaking of that mission: It's the one where the toilet malfunctioned and URINE leaked out underneath the floor. It turns out the issue still hasn't been fixed. So the crew on the next mission will have to wear diapers when it launches next week.
4. And finally: A study found that if we got rid of Daylight Saving Time, it might actually be bad for our health. Waking up when it's dark out isn't good for us. It messes with our sleep patterns. So if we didn't fall back this Sunday, our internal clock would be confused for three full months instead of a few days twice a year.
