- Focus on the things you can control- Like turning off the news, following CDC recommendations, and how you schedule your time.
- Try to let go of things beyond your control- This includes not dwelling on how long this will last, how others react, and the jerks buying up all the toilet paper at the store.
- Limit how much you watch the news- Constantly checking in for updates can make you feel more anxious, so get information from reliable sources and then unplug.
- Stick to familiar routines- Try to be consistent and continue following your healthy diet, proper sleep, and exercise.
- Make time for your kids to connect with others- Give them a chance to reach out to friends, too.
- Connect with your family- Try using these daily check-in questions:
- What am I grateful for today?
- Who am I checking in on or connecting with today?
- What expectations of “normal” am I letting go of today?
- How am I getting outside today?
- How am I moving my body today?
- What good am I creating or encouraging today?
- Laughter can help- Find some comic relief by watching one of the late-night talk shows or even some funny cat videos, if that’s your thing.
- Remember some days will be better than others- And even though it may not seem like it right now, this won’t last forever.
