Well, this was a weekend to remember. I have been pretty open about some of the stuff throughout my pregnancy, and one of those things is my hemorrhoids. I got them about 3 weeks ago, and they were fine. Then, they became unbearable. At first, the usual stuff everyone recommends worked...tucks, witch hazel this and that prep h etc. BUT it got to the point that that stuff didn't even phase me. I was so miserable, and I have like 6 weeks left, so I knew I had to do something. First of all, not everyone gets these, and some only get them after pregnancy. Some don't hurt really at all, and most go away on their own. I went to a specialist, and we decided the best thing for me was to remove them. Mine were thrombosed, and I didn't even know what that was before this. She told me they were quite large, and it would have taken at least a month to go away on their own. By that time, I'd be giving birth, and you know...
So it was a quick procedure they did right then and there. They numbed them, and she removed them. Then, she stitched, and sent me on my way. She did give me a prescription for 5 painkillers. I don't like taking medicine, so I figured I'd take Tylenol and be fine. NOPE. They were no longer numb 2-hours later. I have NEVER felt pain like that in my life. I was hysterically crying, and Jake was shooting a wedding. I drove to the pharmacy and got the prescription. I tried to sit in the bath, which is my magic cure for all during this pregnancy, and that hurt worse. About 2 hours later, the medicine set in, and I could finally stop crying. I took another that night, and I took one in the morning. I haven't since then. I've taken Tylenol. It hurts, but it is bearable now.
I've had so many people reach out about this, and I am NOT an expert, so I just tell them my experience. The thing I've taken away is so many women have them...even those that haven't had kids. You'll have to talk to your doctor to see about having them removed. If they give you the go ahead...I'd do it over a weekend like I did if you can. I just got lucky that that's how mine worked out.
Saturday, I recorded 3 episodes of my podcast, Heartbroken. I'm working hard to make sure there are episodes ready for my leave! I still have a ton more to schedule! This was a guest for an upcoming episode:)
Feeling better on Saturday morning, and with the help of the pain killers, Jake and I hit Ridegdale and Target (where I found the new Hibiscus LaCrois). Then, they started to wear off, so we went home stat!
I spent the night binging Workin' Moms on Netflix. Season 2 just came out, and I love the show!
AND today, I made a homemade strawberry cake. It is quite good...especially the frosting! Click here for the recipe.
