It's been 20 years, so by now EVERYONE knows that the TSA limits liquids in carry-on luggage to three ounces. (Although you wouldn't know it by the security line, when it seems like there's ALWAYS SOMEONE who seems dumbfounded when they're forced to trash a bottle.)
But that COULD be changing.
Airports have started upgrading to new scanners, which can allow for as many liquids as you want . . . in containers up to two liters, which is nearly 68 ounces.
They use something called "Computed Tomography" that can determine liquids differently . . . so that's pretty cool. But there is a MAJOR catch.
The roll-out of the new scanners is VERY slow, and the TSA expects that it will take until the year 2040 to upgrade all 2,000 screening lanes in about 430 airports across the U.S.
So we may finally get to bring larger liquids on planes . . . in 16 YEARS.
