Halsey recently opened up about a secret health battle that fueled the creation of her latest single, "The End," in a woeful series shared to Instagram on Tuesday (June 4).

The "Eastside" songstress revealed that she was diagnosed with Lupus and underwent hospital treatment in private, all while penning her untitled, forthcoming album. The series depicts the Grammy-award winning artist navigating through the pain that comes with the chronic autoimmune disease as she attempts to remain positive about the outlook of her diagnosis.

"Seriously. Seriously," she grimaced in pain. "I feel like an old lady. I told myself I'm giving myself two more years to be sick. At 30 I am having a rebirth and i'm not going to be sick and I'm going to look super hot and have lots of energy and i'm just going to get to redo my 20s in my 30s."

As the series proceeds, viewers are invited into the life of a determined Halsey sharing accounts of her first day of treatment followed by multiple visits to the hospital where she slowly attempted conquer the silent battle she's been enduring on and off for years. Despite countless tearful moments hooked up to machines in medical examination rooms, the "Without Me" star still made time for music.

One video shows Halsey in the studio working on an upcoming album amid treatment and harsh symptoms associated with her chronic condition. "The End," released in tandem with news of the artist's private health battle, is a reflection of the struggle she's had to endure over the last couple years, and what prevailed from the "poison in her brain and blood."
