Let the countdown begin! Tony and Emmy winner Billy Porter phoned into On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Friday, December 13, and expressed his excitement to be joining this year’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special!
The award-winning actor will be joining Seacrest as host of the New Orleans countdown, taking over for Lucy Hale who previously helped ring in the New Year in New Orleans and will now be be side-by-side Seacrest in Times Square. Ciara will also be returning for her third year in a row, hosting the Los Angeles festivities.
“I can’t believe it!” Porter told Seacrest on-air. “I didn’t even know I was dreaming it … I’ve been watching it for decades!”
Porter, who watched the countdown special as a kid with Dick Clark prior to Seacrest taking over, will be joined by Usher and Sheryl Crow and a number of special guest appearances throughout the night.
“I get to meet Usher and Sheryl Crow and hang out with all the New Orleans people who I just love,” the Pose star added, revealing the last time he was in New Orleans was right before Hurricane Katrina hit. “[So] I’m excited to go back and be with the people of New Orleans.”
The Jonas Brothers, Duo Lipa, Green Day, Paula Abdul, Salt-N-Pepa, Megan Thee Stallion, Dan + Shay, Kelsea Ballerini, Blanco Brown, Anthony Ramos, SHAED, Ava Max and more are set to perform during the ABC special, which kicks off on Tuesday, December 31, beginning at 8pm ET/5pm PT on ABC!
