A Scuba Diver Lost Her Camera In Japan And Found It Years Later In Taiwan

Serina Tsubakihara, a 21-year-old university student studying English in Tokyo, lost her camera in 2015 while she was scuba diving with her friends on Ishigaki Island in Okinawa.

Tsubakihara thought it was gone for good until she received a message from a friend, telling her that after nearly three years, her camera had been found in Taiwan thanks to Park Lee, a primary school teacher in Yilan, Taiwan. Lee took his fifth grade students out for a beach cleanup when one of his students found the barnacle-covered camera, which was still intact.

Lee uploaded the camera's photos on Facebook, and they eventually reached Tsubakihara.

"It was very surprising," Tsubakihara said. "I couldn't believe it was happening!"
