Lauv has returned with a tune many millennials will love.
On Thursday (February 20), the singer-songwriter released what he calls โmy favorite song iโve ever made,โ an emotional number entitled โModern Loneliness.โ Drawing on the feels of isolation in a time inured to closeness, Lauvโs latest offering steers clear of making such connections with a record all about embracing all that comes with feeling lonely.
Lauv also unveiled a picturesque music video to accompany the sad song. In the visual, the artist lays alone in a field of yellow flowers while letting his emotions run wild.
โModern loneliness, we're never alone/ But always depressed, yeah/ Love my friends to death/ But I never call and I never text, yeah,โ Lauv sings in the melancholic chorus. โYou get what you give and give what you get, so/ Modern loneliness, we love to get high/ But we don't know how to come down.โ
Days before, Lauvย revealed on Instagramย that โModern Lonelinessโ is โthe most important song of my career so far," adding that "it sums up everything about why i think so many of us are lonely today. itโs something iโm so proud of and i know you guys will love it.โ
As fans know, the record is the latest to arrive from Lauvโs debut album,ย ~how iโm feeling~ (due out March 6), afterย "Changes," "F*ck I'm Lonely"ย andย "I'm So Tired"ย featuringย Troye Sivan.
