'Mighty Ducks' Star Shaun Weiss Arrested For Burglary While High On Meth

Chiller Theater Expo - Day 2

Shaun Weiss was arrested over the weekend for residential burglary and being under the influence, PEOPLE has learned.

The actor, best known for portraying Greg Goldberg in The Mighty Ducks, was detained this Sunday (January 26) at the Yuba County Jail, where he remains on $52,500 bail after police found him inside a stranger’s home garage and “inside of the homeowner’s vehicle.” Per the Marysville Police Department, “The homeowner said he was the only person that lived at this residence and no one had permission to be inside.”

The press release read: “Weiss forced entry to gain access into the vehicle by shattering a window. Officers noticed shattered glass on the ground and observed that the passenger window to the vehicle was broken. Officers ordered the male out of the vehicle and took him into custody.”

It’s said the 41-year-old “displayed symptoms of being under the influence of methamphetamine and said he did not reside at this residence.” It was only after Weiss admitted “the vehicle he was filtering through was not his” that a further investigation revealed he had starred several movies and television series as a child, including Heavyweights, and several films of the Mighty Ducks franchise.

This isn’t Weiss’ first run-in with the law. In August 2018, he was allegedly high on drugs and “acting bizarrely with a flashlight” — pointing the device at his own face — when California police detained the performer for a few hours until he sobered up. He was charged with misdemeanor meth possession in the state the year before and consequentially served 90 days in jail.
