Jake and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary in Red Wing this weekend. I forget how close it is, but it feels like a true getaway. We've done stuff with the St. James Hotel before via the radio station, but I just love that place. I have to say it's the best hospitality I've ever experienced at a hotel. I want to be upfront that the hotel was gifted to us, but I was asked to offer true feedback. I stayed in their new room, which is more like an apartment, called the Foundry. It's huge, and it was so great for our anniversary weekend. I think it would be great for a couple to use for their wedding night etc too!
The kindness went beyond the St. James. Every store or restaurant we went into, we noticed how kind and informative the people were. AND they were so proud of the history of their buildings and city. I'm not a huge history person, but I can appreciate it, and when I saw this sign in our room, I grabbed a picture because it was so cool!
We checked out the farmers market, got a massage at the River Blue salon and checked out their salt lounge. I wasn't sure what the health benefit was from sitting in a salt lounge, but I know they're popular, so we googled it while sitting in there. The benefits: helps with inflammation, good for your lungs, stress relieving and more.
We hiked barn bluff, and I sweat...a lot...as you can see here...
And if you're thinking of making a quick trip, their art festival is in a couple of weeks, and the leaves are changing probably next weekend or the weekend after. It's gonna be extra beautiful. They were just starting while we were there. We also binged the first episodes of the new season of Love is Blind in bed! AND had the best meals at Scarlet inside the hotel. Shoutout to Chef Cory and his team! I listed more things we did on my Instagram post!
Anyway, 10/10 recommend going for a couples getaway! It was so great!
