I got this in my HOA newsletter, and I thought it was so great. How did this not already exist?
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s office now has an enhanced 911 Service and Emergency Notification system called: Smart911.Smart 911 has residents create a safety profile for their household so that when a resident makes an emergency call, their safety profile is automatically displayed to the 911 call taker. This allows the call takers to send the right response teams to the right location with more background information than before. The info will also give first responders more context to what are often complex, dynamic events, such as a house fire, vehicle accident, report of a missing child or a medical emergency The additional details will help first responders act faster and more efficiently in situations where every second matters. To create a safety profile for your household, go to www.smart911.com or on theSmart911 app. All information is optional and residents can choose what details they would like to include. Since cell phones do not provide an address to a 911 call taker (76% of 911 calls are from cell phones), the safety profile that you create will enable 911 call takers to access information that normally cannot be accessed.
