Let's be honest, Serena Williams is a bad ass! I love her work ethic, her talent, and how she stands up for whatever she believes in. After her incidents with the umpire at the US Open, she wrote an essay for Harper's Bazaar. She's proud she stood up for being wronged and treated different, but she hates that it took away from the winner. She admits to texting her to apologize for "stealing her thunder" This is a little excerpt from the article where she talks about how women are often treated: "This incident—though excruciating for us to endure—exemplified how thousands of women in every area of the workforce are treated every day. We are not allowed to have emotions, we are not allowed to be passionate. We are told to sit down and be quiet, which frankly is just not something I’m okay with. It’s shameful that our society penalizes women just for being themselves."
