6 Tips to Avoid Bursting Your Pants on Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is dangerous territory if you're trying to lose weight or keep it off. We all know that. I'm down 20 pounds with Medifast and I love the way I feel. But I don't want to gain back 5 pounds over Thanksgiving. They gave me these 6 helpful tips to keep it off.

1. Get active. Make fitness a family affair! Take a walk early in the day or after dinner, sign up for a holiday fun run or walk, or even gather the family for a game of backyard football.

2. Skip the skipping. Avoid skipping meals earlier in the day in order to "save up" for the holiday meal. Doing this will help you eat slower and stick to a healthy portion.

3. Leave the leftovers. Hosting a holiday meal? Pack up and send home off-plan leftovers with family and friends. Bringing a dish to a holiday meal? Leave any leftovers for the host.

4. H2O is the way to go! It can be easy to confuse hunger with thirst. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times and refill it throughout the duration of the day or evening. If you find yourself tempted to have a slice of pie or off-plan food, drinks some water and wait for about 10 minutes. By doing this, the temptation is likely to pass and you are likely to stay on track.

5. Practice portion control. It's easy to accidentally over-serve yourself when using large dinnerware. Help yourself control portions and stay on track by choosing a smaller plate at holiday meals.

6. Side Dish Substitutes. Holiday side dishes are traditionally known to be high fat, high carbohydrate, and high calorie. Instead, prepare healthy and delicious alternatives such as mashed cauliflower, twice baked turnips or a fresh garden salad.

Maybe screen shot this list and take a look at it next week. If you've lost weight and want to keep it off, you can do it! If you want to lose weight, you can do it! I did! Check out medifastmn.com

Most importantly, Happy Thanksgiving!
