Alyssa Milano faced a lot of criticism for the mask she chose to wear amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Considering medical-grade masks are difficult enough to come by because of the COVID-19 outbreak, people are getting crafty with making their own personal protective equipment, with masks being among the most versatile items to DIY at home. However, the crocheted face mask Milano wore during Saturdayâs (May 23) family outing has caused an uproar with fans.
âShow me your masks! Masks keep people safe and healthy. Show me yours! Ready? Go! #WearAMask,â the Charmed actress tweeted along with an innocent picture of her beside her husband and kids â all appearing to wear cloth or standard face masks â loaded up in the car together. It didnât take long before Twitter users descended on Milano for her unusual choice of PPE.
âAre you SERIOUSLY wearing a KNITTED mask!!!!...as in A MASK WITH HOLES IN IT??â one user tweeted.
Someone else added, âCertainly thereâs no evidence that a KNIT MASK will keep you safe.â
Another concerned fan tweeted, âI sure hope you have something between that mask & your face, cause a knitted mask is no protection to others if you sneeze, cough or speak.â
The 47-year-old star eventually had enough of her detractors and clapped back accordingly. âAâholes, mask has a carbon filter in it. So, yes, it might be crochet but totally safe,â she hit back. âMask has a filter in it for fâkâs sake. A carbon one. My mom makes them. đâ
Responding to a fan criticizing her for having âloaded upâ her family in the car instead of staying home, she explained, âLoaded in the car to get the kids tested for antibodies. đâ
