Mom Shares Heartbreaking Video Of Bullied 9-Year-Old Son

Bullying is not just hurtful, it's effects can be drastic and long-lasting. According to StopBullying.gov, kids who are bullied are more likely to experience depression and anxiety that could last into adulthood, as well as decreased academic achievement. Of course, just reading about those consequences doesn't move many people, which is why one mother from Australia decided to share a video of her nine-year-old son breaking down after he was bullied.

In the video Yarraka Bayles posted on Facebook Live, her boy Quaden, who has a form of dwarfism, is in hysterics, asking for a rope to use to kill himself. You can hear Yarraka, an advocate for disability awareness, explain that she just picked her son up at school, witnessed a bullying episode and called the principal. She adds, "I want people to know, parents, educators, teachers, this is the effect that bullying has. This is what bullying does."

Yarraka asks people to educate their children, their families and their friends to prevent things like this, as well as the potential self-harm that could result from it. As she says this, her distraught son demands a knife so he can stab himself in the heart.

Yarraka's efforts at raising awareness seem to be working as the video has begun to go viral with thousands of people across the globe speaking out in support of Quaden, including one artist who tweeted a custom piece for the boy and his mom.

Meanwhile, Quaden has been invited to lead the Indigenous All-Star National Rugby League team out onto the field this weekend and a GoFundMe was also started to raise money to send the boy to Disneyland. It flew past its goal of $10,000.
