Lauv Is A Sad Flower Child In Picturesque 'Modern Loneliness' Video

Lauv has returned with a tune many millennials will love.

On Thursday (February 20), the singer-songwriter released what he calls “my favorite song i’ve ever made,” an emotional number entitled “Modern Loneliness.” Drawing on the feels of isolation in a time inured to closeness, Lauv’s latest offering steers clear of making such connections with a record all about embracing all that comes with feeling lonely.

Lauv also unveiled a picturesque music video to accompany the sad song. In the visual, the artist lays alone in a field of yellow flowers while letting his emotions run wild.

“Modern loneliness, we're never alone/ But always depressed, yeah/ Love my friends to death/ But I never call and I never text, yeah,” Lauv sings in the melancholic chorus. “You get what you give and give what you get, so/ Modern loneliness, we love to get high/ But we don't know how to come down.”

Days before, Lauv revealed on Instagram that “Modern Loneliness” is “the most important song of my career so far," adding that "it sums up everything about why i think so many of us are lonely today. it’s something i’m so proud of and i know you guys will love it.”

As fans know, the record is the latest to arrive from Lauv’s debut album, ~how i’m feeling~ (due out March 6), after "Changes," "F*ck I'm Lonely" and "I'm So Tired" featuring Troye Sivan.
