Diddy & His Sons Announce Revival Of MTV's 'Making the Band'

The Combs Cartel is coming to a city near you!

To announce the official return of Making the Band, Sean "Diddy" Combs enlisted his three sons — Christian Combs, Quincy Brown, and Justin Combs — to deliver the news ahead of their global search for the world’s next breakout superstars.

“You know we had to be involved in the return of Making the Band,” Christian said in the video announcement on Wednesday (February 19). “It’s only right. So stay tuned, it’s a movement.”

"We not settling for just anybody," Quincy added. "If you feel like you got what it takes to compete in today's industry—y'all know how our pops does it. So expect nothing but the best to be showing up."

Open auditions for the show will take place in Atlanta from February 28-29, Houston from March 7-8, Charlotte from March 13-14, and New York City from March 21-22. According to Variety, each city will have vocal booths in which hopefuls can deliver a music video-style performance to approved audition songs. Hopefuls can also submit auditions online.

Diddy will reprise his role as mentor/producer, while Christian, Quincy, and Justin will serve as judges. Creative director and celebrity choreographer LaurieAnn Gibson is also returning to the franchise and will join the search for the ultimate superstars.

Diddy announced the return of the MTV hit show— which brought the world unforgettable moments like the "Cheesecake Journey," the sing-off, and, of course, the original "Bom Bom Kack" — on Instagram back in July after teasing the idea a month prior. "I've made my decision... #MakingTheBand is coming back!!!" he captioned a video detailing his thought process behind bringing the series back.

"Sometimes you live in your own bubble and you may not really know the importance of something you created," Diddy added in the video. "And with Making the Band, myself and MTV created something special. We empowered young talent from all over the world. No matter what hood they was from, no matter what background they was from, everybody got a chance."

He went on to say that he "knows" he's going to build the "biggest band in the world" and will be doing a "global talent search" to find the best talent.

Making the Band premiered on MTV back in October 2002. The show, which documented the creation and rise of three dynamic musical groups — Da Band, Day26, and Danity Kane — aired its final season, Making the Band 4, in 2009.
