Lauv Gets Real About Making 'Changes' On Self-Reflective New Song: Listen

Lauv is looking to make changes for the better.

The singer-songwriter released his new single, “Changes,” the latest offering to appear on his upcoming debut album ~how i’m feeling~. The easy-going, uplifting record gives meaning to the purpose of wanting to become a better version of yourself — and makes quite the befitting anthem with the arrival of the new year.

“I’m getting rid of all my clothes I don’t wear/ I think I’m gonna cut my hair cause these days I don’t feel like me/ I think I’m gonna take a break from alcohol, probably won’t last that long/ But Lord knows I could use some sleep,” he croons in the opening verse over a slow and steady piano rhythm, leading listeners into the uplifting chorus, “Changes/ They might drive you half insane but it’s killing you to stay the same but/ It’s all going to work out, it’s all going to work out someday.”

“Often times in my life I’ve felt like I’m living a simulation, in the sense that I live in fear of change. In fear of making a wrong decision,” he expressed of the track on Instagram. “So I stick to patterns and old habits even when they don’t serve me or anyone else. drinking too much. ignoring problems in the world. Not trusting myself … thus staying in a world where my actions are predetermined and my habits control me (and not the other way around).”

Lauv was among the acts who performed at the 2019 Daytime Stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in September 2019, where he delivered fan-favorite tracks like "F*ck I'm Lonely" and "I'm So Tired" featuring Troye Sivan. The following month, he embarked on his 19-city “~how i’m feeling~ World Tour” in preparation for the release of his debut album, which arrives on March 6.
