Meek Mill Donates Backpacks & Supplies To Former Elementary School

Meek Mill returned to his old elementary school on Friday (September 14) to gift students with some back to school supplies.

"Got together with to @puma surprise students at James G. Blaine school," the 32-year-old rapper wrote on Twitter. "Every student at the school received a backpack and supplies."

Meek additionally shared a video of his surprise appearance at the Philadelphia school. "I wanted to stop by here today, my elementary school that I grew up in and went to in Kindergarten and the first grade. I just wanted to stop back and show my love and appreciation to my neighborhood," he said while onstage. "I want to give a shout out to Puma for collaborating on schools supplies and book bags for the schools." He then delivered a message to the kids in the audience, telling them to "Continue to chase your dreams."

According to Complex, Meek's generous gift included a year's worth of supplies to more than 30 classrooms at James G. Blaine Elementary and over 500 new backpacks filled with school supplies.

The "1000 Nights" rapper's act of service comes weeks after his 12-year legal battle finally came to an end. Meek decided to end his long fight with Philadelphia's court system on August 27 by copping a plea. He pled guilty to misdemeanor possession of a firearm without a license, seemingly to avoid a retrial after the original conviction was thrown out.

While the Philly rapper pled guilty to the one gun charge, his remaining six charges —stemming from his 2007 arrest on drug and gun charges — for which he was originally convicted were all dropped.
