Lebron James announced he's starting a public school called "I Promise School" in Akron, Ohio. The school will offer children free tuition, free uniforms, free bicycles and helmets, free transportation within two miles of the school, free meals, a food pantry for their families, and GED and job placement opportunities for their families. The school will also reportedly guarantee tuition for any student who graduates and attends the University of Akron.
This is amazing. I am a fan of Lebron so maybe I'm a tad bit biased but if you take out his lack of loyalty to NBA teams, Lebron seems like a pretty stand-up guy. Even former first lady, Michelle Obama applauds him for what he's doing:
.@BarackObama and I are so proud of @KingJames and @IPROMISESchool. Kids in Akron and across the US are lucky to have you as a role model on and off the court. Keep using your platform for good and giving our kids a chance to shoot for the stars. 🌟🏀 #ReachHigher #BetterMakeRoom pic.twitter.com/hyS6UM2A7b— Michelle Obama (@MichelleObama) July 31, 2018
