The boys of 5 Seconds of Summer called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday — the same day they released their debut album — to talk about their new music … and make a HUGE announcement.

Although they’re at the top of the charts, it was a long time (ok, a few years) in the making for the band.

“The hardest point was early days,” says drummer Ashton Irwin, 20. “I finished school before these guys and the hardest part was getting them out of school to be in a band, like I had to go steal them from school in my car … willingly.”

The other three guys of 5SOS — guitarist Michael Clifford, bassist Calum Hood, and singer-guitarist Luke Hemmings, all 18 — met in school and were friends … and may or may not have all pursued the same girl at one point.

“We all went through a phase where we all liked the same girl,” they explained, adding with a laugh, “We don’t talk about that. It’s a touchy subject.”

As for 5SOS’ big announcement, they will play a very special show on Saturday, November 15, at The Forum. But this Saturday, fans can go down to the venue at 7 a.m. (tickets will go on sale at 11 a.m.) and the band will all be there.

“We’re planning some cool stuff,” they add. “It’s not like you’ve just going to come down and hang in a line all day. We’ve got some cool surprises happening.”

The band also answered some fan questions, including one from Ryan’s neighbor, Mackenzie. Listen to audio above for all their hilarious answers!
